Salma

Optometric Assistant

As a recent transplant to Toronto in 2018, I have quickly fallen in love with this vibrant city, and more recently, with my role as a team member at Corktown Eyecare. Since joining the practice, I have developed a keen interest in glasses and enjoy keeping up with the latest styles in our gallery. Optometry has become a newfound passion of mine, thanks in no small part to the wonderful patients and staff that make this such a special place to work. Outside the office, I enjoy baking for loved ones and bouldering at my local climbing gym. It is an honor to be a part of such a dedicated team that provides excellent ocular health services to our community, and I look forward to contributing to this mission for years to come!

Mary Jane

Optometric Assistant

Hi, I'm Mary Jane, and I'm an Optometric Assistant at Corktown Eyecare. I assist our doctor in performing eye tests for our patients and love expanding my knowledge and skills about eye diseases. As a registered nurse in my home country, I have a strong background in healthcare. Outside of work, I enjoy watching anime and Korean dramas, as well as pursuing my interests in arts and photography. One of my favorite quotes is "If you don't take risks, you can't create a future" by Monkey D'Luffy. I believe in taking chances and creating opportunities for myself and those around me. Come visit us at Corktown Eyecare and let's create a brighter future for your eyes!

Kyle

Optometric Assistant, Summer Student

I am currently pursuing my Doctorate degree (ND) at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) with a strong passion for preventative healthcare and optimizing overall health and well-being. I believe that by working in conjunction with conventional medicine, patients receive a higher quality of care. With a collaborative mindset, a passion for holistic health, and a desire to contribute to the field of naturopathy, I am excited to make a meaningful impact as a summer naturopathic student at the clinic. I am humbled to be working alongside a team of dedicated professionals who are caring and knowledgeable. I aim to enhance the provision of comprehensive eye care services and support patients in achieving their optimal eye health and overall well-being. In my spare time, I enjoy weightlifting and watching Marvel movies!

Jamie

Office Manager

I am certified with The Canadian Association of Optometrist as a CCOA (Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant). I love helping patients by educating them on the importance of routine eye exams and helping them find the right pair of glasses for work, for reading, or specific hobbies like sewing or reading music. I especially love seeing children gain confidence when they can see the board at school without straining or squinting and are able to learn. The industry is always changing and growing. As such, I am a big believer in constant learning about new products and clinical knowledge.
