Tips For Proper Contact Lens Care

    1.Maintain Personal Hygiene

Personal hygiene is the frontrunner in contact lens care, and possibly eye health in general.

Before handling your contact lenses or touching your eyes, thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water, rinse, and dry them with a lint-free towel.

    2.Avoid the infamous “Top-Up”

You may have been guilty of this in the past, but don’t be ashamed — you’re in good company.

Many contact lens wearers admit to topping-up the leftover fluid in the lens case instead of spilling it out and using fresh lens solution each time.

Lens fluid top-ups are risky though, as the old lens solution is still in the case. This can lead to eye infections.

    3.Clean Them After Each Use

After removing your lenses, rub them with some lens solution in your palm to remove any bacteria and protein buildup.

You’ll also want to rinse out the lens case with some solution and allow it to air dry before storing the lenses again.

    4.Don’t Overwear Your Contacts

Some optometrists use the term “overwear syndrome” to describe the group of symptoms that can arise from contact lens overuse.

Make sure to wear your lenses according to your eye doctor’s instructions, and to replace your contact lenses as often as your doctor recommends. Remove your lenses from your eyes every night, unless the lenses are specifically designed for sleeping.

If it’s time to restock your contact lenses, we can help.
